TRUMPET
CURTIS LONG:
Curtis holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Iowa State Universit. Mr. Long began his professional music career performing with the Quantico United States Marine Corps Band out of Quantico, VA. There, he performed for dignitaries, heads of state and international audiences in a variety of musical idioms-including concert band, jazz band, brass quintet, and Dixieland band shows. He has also performed extensively with many different show bands and musicians aboard Cruise Ships for three years, working with a wide variety of international headlining-artists, backing up large-scale production shows and entertaining international audiences on a nightly basis.
DAVE REZEK:
A Des Moines native, versatile trumpeter Dave Rezek holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree with a jazz emphasis from the University of Northern Iowa (1992) and a Master of Music degree in jazz trumpet performance from New England Conservatory (1999). Since his first official trumpet student in 1989, he has been a music educator and/or a private teacher in Iowa, Missouri (1992-97), Boston (1997-2002) and New York City (2002-07). In Boston, he was a member of the top NEC jazz groups and a teaching assistant there, as well as a member of the big band Indigo Inventions and a sub with several other local big bands. In 2002, he moved to NYC, where he was a member of the big band Secret Society and subbed with other big bands including Sound Assembly, the Jamie Begian Big Band, and the BMI/New York Jazz Orchestra. Also a frequent sub on Broadway, his show experience includes being a designated sub for the smash hit Jersey Boys, with whom he led the horns on stage at the 2006 Tony Awards Show (the show took Best Musical), and he also was on the sub lists for numerous other Broadway shows. Since his family’s 2007 return to Des Moines, he has been a private teacher, clinician, adjudicator, guest soloist and regular sub with the Des Moines Big Band. Dave’s age- and level-appropriate education of trumpet playing, theory and performance approach, as well as his positive energy and sense of humor, have instilled confidence, motivation and excitement in his students.
TROMBONE & BARITONE

CHRISTA MILLER:
Christa received her Bachelor of Music Education from Augustana College in Rock Island. She has been a band director for 27 years and has taught all instruments. She has been a guest conductor and performer at many local and state band festivals. She has served on many committees for SCIBA, IBA, and IHSMA. She has also judged many festivals and solo contests around the state.
FRENCH HORN
GALE WILSON:
Gale holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Central Arkansas and a Master of Music in Horn Performance from Northeast Louisiana University. She has performed with several groups in the orchestral, chamber, and musical theatre mediums, including the Des Moines Symphony, Arkansas Symphony, Scott Davis Brass Quintet, Metropolitan Brass Quintet, and the Central Iowa Symphony. Before moving to Iowa, Gale was the Band Director at Bastrop Middle School and served as Counselor/Chamber Musician and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan. She teaches students from beginning to advanced high school and early college, and also teaches beginning trumpet.
